Sankofa Afrikan studies group are now offering Community African history classes online
We are Sankofa Afrika, an educational community seeking to empower the Global Community by redistributing knowledge of their African heritage by hosting virtual classrooms.
Our tutors have a wealth of formal and informal teaching experiences along with first-hand experience living and travelling around the continent.
Both Kwame Gad and Malcolm Phillip were taught for over four years by internationally renowned historian, teacher and author Robin Walker and have since taught this history for over five years with his support and acknowledgement.
We chose the name Sankofa is because it means; we should reach back and gather the best of what our past has to teach us so that we can achieve our full potential as we move forward. Whatever we have lost, forgotten, forgone or been stripped of can be reclaimed, revived, preserved and perpetuated.
People attending our courses and reading our material can expect to gain a new perspective on Africa and African people, be pushed outside their comfort zone, enjoy fun and lively discussions, interactive activities and most importantly a sense of community.
Subscribe to our newsletters here to be notified of upcoming taster classes and courses!
We want to make this information with its tools, concepts and ideas, accessible to all and make a positive change for the future.
We offer private classes in person, to small and large groups, primarily in and around Leeds and the West Yorkshire region although we can travel to the surrounding areas too.
We are also able to teach online worldwide.
If you’re interested in a private class for yourself, your community group, business or change organisation, please get in touch via the below emails:
